Even #GamerGate Has A Price

Dear Mr. Consul General:

I am writing about an individual that you do not want there and we want returned here. He fled our country and landed in yours. He fled because he had violated our societal norms. Every day, he makes a mockery out of yours. The individual’s name is Frederick Brennan.

My understanding is that your child pornography laws were enhanced in 2009. Section 3 of Public Law 9775 is violated on the site Mr. Brennan is responsible for known as 8chan.

It is not bad enough that he has to spread the unfortunate chan culture around the planet. It is not enough that as a supporter of #GamerGate that he also supports the rape and assault of women. He has to go further and be an advocate for the corruption of the innocent.

Your law states in part, “The State recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation building and shall promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, psychological and social well-being.” Every day, that guiding principle is violated on Mr. Brennan’s behalf. Every day, Mr. Brennan insults your entire nation in broad daylight. Go check his site at any time and you will find a message board where child pornography is “acceptable.”

I am not familiar with how Philippines domestic politics helps or hinders prosecution of such undesirables. Here in the United States, they often try to hide behind our First Amendment. However, if you cease honoring whatever document/credential he is using to stay in your country, I can promise that we will not be involving the law to curtail his activities.

In 2015 America, political speech is the new place to achieve justice. Through fundraising and advertising, we can often solve corruption problems, via shame of all things – a very “Eastern” thought for us, that our law enforcement agencies cannot. That would be the only tool used in Mr. Brennan’s direction if he were returned here.

I understand that dislodging Mr. Brennan could causes some problems as he does run a company and a few of your citizens might have to seek other employment. I am certainly not unsympathetic to anyone that could find themselves in such a situation. Therefore, please allow me to propose a number of solutions.

First and foremost, using the political tools again, we could promise any displaced employee gainful employment here in the United States. Not only would they financially rectified, they would be given the opportunity sample America. I also believe that more us going there to sample your culture is a good thing.

However, it is not just about making employees “whole” again. As I am sure you are aware there are multiple “fast track” trade agreements, of different types and natures, that would benefit your nation held up in our legislative process. Many people wrongly blame the hold-ups solely on American Labor. This is not true. Other hands are at work.

For instance, the patrons of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) would cash in if these trade agreements were passed. Unfortunately for them, they employ Ms. Christina Sommers, a #GamerGate supporter. Since #GamerGate is unacceptable, we have asked certain members of Congress to hold anything that would benefit the AEI. These members support women. If you returned Mr. Brennan to our nation, I think you would find that the hurdles and road blocks to these trade agreements would magically disappear.

Lastly, I understand making such a decision could be troublesome to any government official regardless of nation. The “you can’t stay here anymore, please go home” theme is rather uncomfortable. It turns out that I have not sold all of my timeshare week holdings yet. If any of your officials were to be suffering from elevated stress levels as the result of making such a decision, I would happily provide them with multiple vacation opportunities to diminish the discomfort.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Robert T. Oliveira
